Since 2010, we have made meaningful efforts to improve the physical, emotional and spiritual lives of children and their families.

Our Mission

To provide funds, through the foundation's endowment, to other nonprofit organizations who share the same commitment to better the lives of children and families who find themselves in need of compassion and love that Christ directed us to show one another.

We, as followers of Christ, share the responsibility to ‘look after orphans and widows in their distress.’ James 1:27
— Paul Allen, Founder

Our Beginings

In 2001, our founder came to know an organization in Alabama that provided a warm, nurturing Christian home for foster children who desperately needed to feel the love a family. After much prayer and consideration, he came to the decision that he wanted to provide a similar environment for children in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Shortly thereafter, he and a dedicated Board of Directors, formed a non-profit organization with this mission and purchased a beautiful 25 acre ranch property on the Central Coast of California.  Soon after, they built two new homes, one for boys and one for girls, each providing a set of warm and loving house parents.

With the help of many volunteers and other committed donors, the ranch added horses, chickens, cows, a multi-purpose recreation building, fruit orchards, an outdoor amphitheater and even a baseball field.

Our goal was to create an environment for children to live with loving foster parents who were committed to raising them knowing that they were loved. After several years of trying to work with the local and state governments, it sadly became clear that this model did not fit their guidelines and goals.

Thankfully, our founder reminded the Board of Directors that the mission was NOT to build a ranch for children in need, but instead was to provide for children in need wherever they may be. Thus, in 2010, Solid Rock Ranch was sold. The proceeds of the sale were put into an investment account to form an endowment that now funds other nonprofit organizations who share in our commitment to enhance the lives of those in need.
